I loved this comment from Ellen Sandell:
"Greens energy spokeswoman Ellen Sandell urged Mr Purcell to abandon his push for nuclear power and support renewable energy sources."
So a quick bit of research (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong here) says that it takes approx 15kWh to make 1KG of Aluminium, and the plant is capable of outputting 345,000 tonnes of Aluminium per year so approx 94 tonnes per day.
So to create 94 tonnes per day so you would need around 1,410,000 kWh of energy per day. So by my calcs you would need around 35,000 x 250Watt solar panels! (AGAIN, someone please correct me if I'm wrong here or if my calcs are off, I haven't has any coffee yet)
