Just saw Tim Flannery on Lateline talking about reorienting Australia's mineral processing industries around geothermal energy from the Cooper Basin (also mentioned solar thermal).
This is the kind of thing I was referring to - its a comparative advantage in a global carbon trading regime. Even if this is some way off, companies planning large energy-intensive projects are on the lookout for large, specifically renewable energy resources. Its about time politicians started seeing the opportunies for Australia under such a scheme.
