donhoop...
I get those calls too...about 5 or 6 a month.
I usually just have fun with them now.
Last call...Friday last week...I simply told the girl that I didn't actually have a phone...after a few seconds of silence, she then asked...well, can I speak to the owner please?
"The owner of what?" I asked.
"The owner of the phone" she replied.
"What phone" I asked.
After a few more seconds of silence, she said..."this number I have called you on"
"What number?" I replied
"1234 5678" she said, obviously reading it off the screen...(note, not actual number)
Yes, that is my number...why did you call it? I replied.
Are you the owner of this number sir? she asked.
"Yes" I replied.
"So...this IS your phone...sir?" she asked.
"No, I don't have a phone" I replied.
This actually went on for some time...but eventually, she hung up.
I think I kept her on the phone for about 5 minutes...would have cost a bit from India?
Another of my favourites is to inform them that... "this call may be monitored for training purposes"..."do you wish to proceed"
Confuses them every time.
Another time I tried to sign them up to subscribe to my newsletter..."The International Telecommunication Services and National Dialing at Regionally Sourced Exchanges Intervention Group"...or "TITSANDARSE Intervention Group" for short!
Even got her to write it down...cacked myself over that one...LOL
You should try it.
Cheers!
