I believe he is likely correct in estimating a 70% chance of the trial achieving a positive result. However, there is a distinction between a positive result and a CLEAN positive result. A CLEAN result means significant upfront cash, carried progression through additional trials and FDA approval, milestone payments, and double-digit commercial royalties. In contrast, a positive but not CLEAN result may entail a much less attractive type of partnership or/a CR for further trials with an adjusted design. I think here the interim results become crucial as good results will give them optionality in either direction (raise capital or partner) prior to the final readout.
