The little Gecko mine is still very much endowed with rich gold/copper ore. Peko were reluctant to close this mine, but Peko's "then" owners made a corporate decision to do so. The amount of remaining ore was being assessed by Peko at the time of corporate wind-up, and hence the reason for my last visit.

I recall that Giants Reef made several comments about Gecko, and at that time the tonnage of Gecko ore was a matter of conjecture.
