Lol ... no takers to your "what other options are there" question after 19 hrs.
Its Saturday ... I have slept off the worst of the week's work excesses and my mind is relaxing into ponder mode 8))
Now, who might an oil refiner appeal to? Well, if you were a producer of syngas and has long term designs on producing diesel I guess a refiner might be a good partner, preferably as a farm-in for a particular project.
Obviously this may be a good fit for CXY's mysterious Wandoan project ... you know, the one where they already have enough JORC reserves to fuel a 400MW power station for 100 yrs and yet they are fast tracking additional drilling.
It could also be a good fit for CNX at Bloodwood creek where they have plans to fuel up a diverse industrial park. Whilst they already have IPL as a partner, it isn't out of the question.
On first pass it shouldn't appeal to LNC, unless of course they are struggling with the whole GTL conversion/refining process ... in that case a strong refining partner looking to diversify away from 100% reliance on oil as a feedstock might be useful.
Somehow I don't think an established blue chip refiner would be keen on the burly trail of new listings releasing ASX announcements of billion tonne coal targets and upcoming meetings with Richard Branson (that was CPT I think).
Why would a refiner partner be a good fit for CXY? Well, with a refiner farm-in partner for say just Wandoan in the first instance, CXY is free to pursue Kingaroy and fine tune a potential stream of electicity generation future business.
Who says that a refiner has to be restricted to refining oil? Might they not also like to diversify and develop a methanation plant to become also a gas refiner?
Of course, in both cases the refiner would be using syngas produced at Wandoan by CXY 8))
That'll do for now ... remember, these are just ponderings.
Cheers
