Although I query the ethics of disinvesting in companies, as against investing in them, I accept that shorting has been legitimised.
However, I respectfully suggest that you appear not to recognise:
. short covering & lack of disclosure [how many people even know super funds lend out their stocks? IMO unethical if not criminal!]
. from media reports supported by real data what appears to be international collusion to manipulate prices through shorting, apparently targeting BHP today
. the practice of not settling short trades within 3 days - hmmmm?
. practice of multiply selling the same share - unreal!
The long & short of it [lol] atm is that IMO there is a strong perception in relation to shorting that our market lacks transparency, disclosure, ethics & fair rules.
