Investment certainty in return for world's best social and environmental outcomes.

The LNP will establish Queensland's Resources and Energy sector as a world leader once more and get Queensland back on track with a real plan for our State's future.

While the world is currently experiencing a mining boom with commodity prices at a historical high, Queensland's tired 20 year Labor Government's mismanagement and waste has caused a loss of investor confidence in our resources and energy sector.

The respected Fraser Institute's Survey of Mining Companies 2010-11 showed that Queensland's sovereign risk ranking has fallen from 8th in the world in 2006-07 down to 38th in 2011.

Labor's excessive red-tape, slow approvals, failure to deliver and maintain key infrastructure, as well as its inability to address growing skills and knowledge shortages has eroded both Queensland's sovereign risk rating and industry confidence.

Labor has failed to address key environment and social concerns as they have focussed on ad hoc political responses instead of real long-term planning for a sustainable future.

Nationally, the Labor-Green government is imposing new taxes on the sector – the Carbon Tax and the Mineral Resource Rent Tax. These will be additional burdens on Queensland, restricting the growth of our resources and energy industries and job creation.

    What the LNP is offering:

    • A strong future for resources and energy in Queensland with a stable, clear legislative framework for the industry.
    • Improving training, career and investment opportunities in the resources sector to help address industry skills and knowledge shortages.
    • Increasing support from Government through cutting red tape, reforming relevant Departments and improving application and approval systems for resource projects.
    • Building infrastructure that is essential to the future growth of the resource and energy sector.
    • Developing clean energy, alternative and renewable technologies and fuels, while ensuring coal fired electricity can remain competitive and viable.
    • Implementing a better system of regional planning to provide improved security for miners, landholders and Queensland communities alike.
    • Opposing Labor's new taxes, the Carbon Tax and the Mineral Resource Rent Tax, on the resources industry.
    • Demanding World's best practice in social and environmental performance.
