Just imagine if we just let the virus run its course Perhaps 1% or the world population would die - that's about 80 million yes eventually some immunity would develop - but death rates would increase due to lack of treatment the situation would be 1000 times worse than Italy (New York is worse now) as the medical system would be in chaos unable to copy with the dying - meaning just as many would be die of other causes I'd imagine with people dying in the streets, lawlessness would ensue, dead people in homes overwhelming the system ability to cope.
