However, he stressed that the costs of helicopter use are soaring in Peru as the nearest place to Tumbes to recharge its fuel tanks is Talara airport in the Piura region.
"There are no helicopters for offshore activities in Peru," Hosking said.
The executive of the Australian oil company said that a great challenge that Peru must solve is its efficiency against a hypothetical oil spill at sea.
"There is a limited response from teams to an oil spill and trained personnel," he warned.
Karoon is an oil and gas exploration company focused on South America, and is also the one that intends to drill the country's deepest offshore well this year.
