Different people join for different reasons. Some of the points above are valid reasons. For me and a mate I joined with , it was about adventure and escape from a poor home life. I’m not sorry I joined but I knew very early on that it wasn’t going to be a career. The mate I joined with was still in when I last spoke with him and he had served for 30 years then.
