Another option is to use some like CBUS - they would mimick the index to some extent in the australian shares etc.
SMSF would not be viable until $150k really.
Another option that is not available to you people - I belong to a privately managed "gay warriors/static cowboy" super fund, it is managed by former colonial staff - 0.5% mer and has performed 11.5% over the last 5 years including a 7% performance last year - the criteria for getting is obviously homesexual or pure deviant - some of the members are really bad people.
