Possibly, but that optimism didn't work out well for those who bought shares up near ~$4.00.
Yes all the speculative stocks got smashed (too much blue-sky built in). All those valued based on earnings seem to have ridden the volatility out ok.
You can blame it on whatever event you want, those are massive falls.
