This stuff going on does give you more time in the garden, i've noticed a lot more bee's in the garden, i don't get in their way. Amazing to see the swollen pollen bags on their back legs, so much more easier for the bee's as they are an organised society of a hive with a Queen.
They only live for six weeks though, and will commit suicide if the hive is attacked by stinging the invader and as most will know the stinging process rips part of the internal the abdomen out and death follows.
yet the Queen and some of the hive and the drones live on for longer. Termites have a similar social insect society, yet they are more closely related to the cockroach that has a closer living habit with humans in kitchens. It is the Cerci (Appendages on the abdomen) that both and many other insects have, that is used to class associations and family lines.
All insect families have their Domain and range and respect and live without interfering or attacking one another unless provoked as it is understood.
