The US has knackered our exports to China but fail to compensate us; just threaten to expel us from the 5 Eyes program & support for our National security: in essence either we are with the USA is its quest to bankrupt China or we are against the US. The bottom line is this invidious position will cost us our $50 billion annual China Trade Surplus.
We should be asking the US for a lazy $500 billion to build our own Steel Smelters/Mills so that we can cruel China* which will complement the US quest to debunk the CCP.
* By processing say 20% of our iron ore/met coal exports we can: -starve China of raw steel making supplies -conquest some of China's steel export customers
This would also drive up the price of Iron Ore and met coals; a double win for Aus and a massive win for the USA in its quest to stymie China's economic growth.
IMO Morrisson should have kept his council & devise & implement Plan B such as above before throwing US shit balls at China.
