IMO, NZ has a better opportunity to industrialise than Aus because of its micro Ag processing businesses (Proto-Industrialisation). These micro businesses supplement farming and retail reasonable levels of the population in rural & regional areas.
The Industrial Revolutions in Britain, US and later China started in rural towns & villages and later migrated to cities in a quest for economy of scale.
