The influence of big pharma cannot be underestimated. The recent vaccination production facilities in Aust will come with a hidden hook I am sure.
Small countries with excellent and exceptional universities and medical researchers in particular are a fly in the ointment for these guys. Hence the big announcements and govt back room deals to potentially come.
The problem for the big guys is they have gotten their foot in door with some really suss science and safety results that have allowed them to progress. The agencies themselves are also painted into the same corner.

Going to be hard to knock the little guy out if human trials show safe and better results eh ?

pharma makes money in those cheaper areas thru shear volume and in the USA thru absolute bastardry.
