Rang BOW HQ today. Must say the company is refreshingly profesional. I wanted to know 4 things.
1) Is BOW having problems with its pilot wells and in particular BWP39? Situation is (as 2 latest releases have attested to) is that dewatering is taking far longer than originally anticipated. BOW has learnt from some previous wells that it cannot extract water too rapidly as it will collapse coal profile and restrict gas porousity. So it's a 'timing issue' rather than 'technical issue'.
2) Who are BOW using to drill. Main drilling done by 'Encon and Drill Torque'. Both are specialised CSG drillers.
3) Does Sino-Shell and BG (with nearby tenements) share drilling knowledge? "Absolutely not" was the answer. They share data re estimating gas reserves as coal beds almost identical... but that's all.
4) Today DTE released statement re new restrictions in NSW. Answer: This chemical already banned in QLD and BOW doesn't use it.
We then spoke generally and company rep stated that whilst drilling is progressing the target date for final 2P and 3P reserves had been pushed-back to mid-2012. I think this already covered in last week's release.
I then proposed (as a shareholder) that rather than wait ages for a single 'big-bang' update in gas reserves... i would prefer to see a series of regular albeit smaller incremental increases in reserves... as each new well is tested/measured. Rep heartily agreed with me and i can pretty much say this is company policy from here on. Note: i favour this method as it incrementally increases value of BOW each month. We want to avoid (as much as is humanly possible) a chronic under-bid as per ESG.
I also speculated re probability of a hostile TO on BOW. Rep agreed this could come at anytime.... but BOW cannot do anything to prevent it. So policy is to keep getting the pilot wells drilled, tested. measured and announced.
hope this helps.
