This does require some degree of diplomacy, something that Australia has rarely shown that it is capable of. because as a totalitarian country they can just TELL any business in China to cancel imports from Australia, but Australia as a country with all our big business owned by foreigners it does put Canberra in a predicament, and I don't know that Twiggy or BHP would take any notice if they were told to suspend exports to China

Well I guess they could literally attack first ,
The CCP could send an aircraft carrier and destroyers into the Indian Ocean , then detour and anchor up at Port Headland then just take over the Pilbara , and tell Canberra if it attacks the fleet it will nuke Sydney .
The White house did not expect Japan to attack Pearl Harbor so always go to be prepared for the unexpected, difference is the Japanese Admiralty respected the USA , where as there is no respect of the CCP to Australia .
