Geez you drop kick, the light was coming into the world because the world was in darkness.
There was no eternal life in humans. They were all of flesh. God came in the flesh to lead them out of darkness back to God.
Into the light. Life eternal.
The flesh had to go to the cross as a sacrifice to bring the light back into the world with the resurrection and you have to move through the curtain to be in that light otherwise you are still in the darkness, in the flesh.
This is elementary children of God stuff.
The right to become children of God.
Disbelief on how thick you are.

Even John the Baptist was in the flesh.
The least of those who come into the light are greater than John the Baptist.
