The Hay Bale is novel brilliance!

And grass clippings (or leaves this time of year) are excellent if you first put them in one of those thick dark green (almost black) big garbage bags...seal with a good tight knot and leave for about 3 wks until decomposed. Will become very hot and gaseous, so do not inhale the fumes as you re-open the bag in 3 wks time to check it.
Sometimes you will have a mould/mildew throughout, in which case the process is not finished...reseal and leave to check once a week. I used to leave mine in the sun and it worked even faster.

For a really upsized batch, get all the grass and fine clippings (including leaves) you can find to put everything under a large Black pvc style plastic sheet, as used in building/cementing etc (brain is tired tonight, can;t think of its name).
