If the government legislates that dogs are cats, does that make it true that dogs are legally cats?

For all of human history there have been males and females. The difference being defined by genitalia, chromosomes and number of ribs.

During the Gillard years laws were passed that allow a male to be a female by saying they are, irrespective of physical reality.

In the case of Tickle v Giggle the court found that Roxanne Tickle was female because he/she said so, irrespective of physical reality.

Can the court ignore the truth because legislation allows a lie?

And this government wants to be allowed to define "truth".
