one last comment. shorters do not want to drive price down!!! They want to make money!!! They think price will go down so they short stock. They do this to make money. It is exactly what you and I do on upside. Yes they are hopping it will go down just like buyers hope it will go up. But at 5% of shares outstanding they know their impact on SP is small.
Look at the resent increase in shorts about 3% of shares outstanding in 5 months and think are they seeing something i am not. Not they are evil people that are trying to drive down stock price.
