The factory in China is a big shed with two assembly lines (room for six apparently) that took about a week to install. They are hands on production lines that bring together best in class components from a number of suppliers. VMT assemble their bikes in China at the moment because of cheap labour and that is changing fast as China develops.
The China plant could be replaced with one or several rented sheds close to our markets throughout the world if being in china ceases to be the best place to be.. If the changeover happened during Chinese new year and the suppliers were given the new delivery address there would be no disruption to the production schedules.
Can't help with your concern about foreign listing. When VMT needed to raise capital to increase the size of the factory when it was pushing the barrow uphill chasing volume in the Chinese market it gave a London broker a fat commission to the raise the money and listed on LSE at the same time . it wasn't big enough to even be recognised there. The broker after pocketing his fat fee lost interest and the cost of remaining listed there wasn't worth persevering with.
VMT wouldn't benefit from listing on a big exchange unless it wanted to take over a BIG Fish and wouldn't that be a big mistake that required getting into deep water.
VMT is not that far off getting a seat on the S&P indices and when that happens this thinly traded nonsense and price manipulation that provides great buying opportunities will be a distant memory.
