can property double in the next 7 years

We often hear this thrown around that it can. To be honest I can't really see it doubling in the the next 7. Over the last 30 odd years we have seen massive growth and also we have seen periods of stagnation in the 90's,
And pull backs in the early nineties and eighties. We have just come off a period where growth has been huge and to think it can keep going at that rate would be unsustainable.

This period we are entering depends a lot on the economy, jobs and sentiment will guide the price over the next few years. While I see a flat to small pull back, I see nothing out of the ordinary in cycles with this. That is not say inner city property won't slowly rise. While we see calls for big drops, I really don't see it happening unless Australia ends up in a massive recession like Europe with extremely high unemployment.

I think this topic would be interesting if we can stay away from one line digs aimed at each other.
