Huge advantage over traders as a long term investor is that you don't need a reversal sign before you pile in to a trade, I am confident enough to add to my position during the lows/dips as I trust the fundamentals. Like you said, by the time the trend is 80%-90% favourable or looking extremely bullish, the bulk of the fat is already gone!
