A lot of people don't buy until they see the price go up by which time those who make the real money have already taken up a position.....
Its called smart money......they accumulate the stock in a subversive fashion and because they have enormous funds available to them they can wear the volatily that whipsaws smaller traders in and out of positions.....In fact they create the volatily in many instances to shake you out......
When prices drop on huge volume who do you think is waiting there with open arms buying all those shares from panic sellers?
These people (or institutions) take huge positions and .05 may not mean much to the little fish but that's where the big fish make their money.....namely taking it from the little fish.....
learn to swim on the sharks back......
