I got me in a game of galloping dice,
Made forty-two passes, and man they was nice.
Took all my loot and stashed it away,
Bought me some land the very next day.
Now, that land was a sight to see
And all of my friends felt sorry for me.
They said, "Man, boy, you sure got stuck,"
But they hadn't figured on my Texas luck.

42 barrels of oil a day,
42 barrels and man that ain't hay
Look out the window and what do I see,
an oil well pumping more money for me.
