Past ceasefires have been used by the US to rescue as many of their best-in-class terrorists as possible so they can be employed elsewhere to train more terrorists. I wouldn't blame Russia and the Syrian government for wanting to exterminate as many as possible while the opportunity exists. It's a pity civilians are in the line of fire partly because the terrorists are effectively using them as human shields by hiding in their neighbourhood and partly because it's difficult to tell who is a terrorist and who isn't. The ceasefire reeks of hypocrisy, considering the number of deaths the US and allies have been responsible for in the region.
