US can also outsource their manufacturing to someone lse if they chose ...or go hit tech with robtics
but I will concede the general thrust
US are less of a threat to China than China are to themselves ...no elections , leader for life .... (another Mao even down to his own book of thoughts ) ... doesn't make for good decision making
pre- Xi you could make a case for the efficiency of the Chinese system of government
the small base of people with enough power to elect a leader was the weakness and that someone like Xi could entrench himself in power so thoroughly as to change the constitution was always a possibility I worried about
