BECAUSE,
It is simply the wrong time of year for this crucifying stuff.

HERE
We normally wait till theres at least 3 to be crucified which comes around about Easter time for this crucifying of thing which allows us to select a carpenter to build a good strong cross first.

AND
Then we just might talk about it for a couple of thousand years.
Maybe a book or two and of course, a movie would follow.
