There are a number of interesting points in relation to the extended findings of the Genentech group re: Transferrin Antibodies crossing the BBB.

Firstly, the task is important;
"Its essential for the field to find a way to deliver large molecules to the brain," said Ryan Watts.

Secondly, research takes a long time;
The extended findings have been released two years after the original announcement.

Thirdly, there are safety issues yet to be resolved;
"Since the safety profile of a drug is key to its clinical success, such data early in the drug development process is always welcome," said Frederic Calon.

What does all this mean for BEN? We do know that, as late as the Perth Showcase Lunch, Paul Watt intently stated that "[Phylogica have] achieved the milestones on all of our Pharma relationships." By extension, it means that phylomer peptides which cross the BBB have been delivered to Genentech in accordance with the milestone agreement. We also understand that there is data on the BEN phylomer peptides which is 'exciting'.

Safety, efficacy and progress is all unknown, or at least confidential.

Ryan Watts say that its essential to find a way to deliver large molecules to the brain and Paul Watt says we have delivered on our milestone to Genentech. An interesting time to be invested!
