We must remember that Ryan Watts made the comment within the time frame of Roche extending its collaboration with Phylogica. Its not inconceivable that Ryan Watts is referencing, at least in part, the action of phylomer peptides which had 'demonstrated cell penetration activity for application to delivery across the BBB'.

Transcytosis is simply a process by which various macromolecules are transported across the interior of a cell.

The Chairman, in the March 2013 Update, stipulated the importance of key technology enhancements. Head and shoulders is validation of the Endosomal Escape Trap or the Aces. Yes, its highly likely that this validation work is a follow on from the success of the BEN phylomer peptides. I have no doubt that Genentech are intently watching these developments as they look around for alternative pathways to deliver drugs across the BBB - alternatives with a higher safety profile than the transferrin receptor.
