Hi Tony, The Genentech findings reveal a number of side effects in relation to the bispecific antibody. As Frederic Calon noted in the article, Can Transferrin Antibodies Safely Open the Blood Brain Barrier, "the safety profile of a drug is key to its clinical success".
The question remains, what is the safety profile for BEN_5000? Whether there is safety data available for BEN_5000 is highly relevant at this stage in the research process. One can only wonder whether some of the 'exciting' data to be released at a scientific conference relates to safety as well as efficacy.
A pass mark for the CPP versus a fail or try harder for the bispecific antibody would be extremely telling in relation to the prospect for licensing.
