ok - watso was thinking this, and looked it up, before noticing that there was already a thread about water - so could have added to that thread - but it seems that washing machine water (along with detergent) can be used, and reused , and reused  etc

    https://www.treehugger.com/clean-te...ing-machines-reuse-95-laundry-wastewater.html

Along with saving a large amount of water, this technology is also said to recycle the detergent as well, and as stated in an article at the Atlantic, "you could use essentially the same batch of water to wash laundry for up to six months (replenished by the small percent that’s not recycled). In turn, this would mean much less detergent being released into the groundwater supply."

watso of course, does not use a washing machine, relying on the world famous watso micro washing system.  for rinsing, watso uses a two stage process (ie two buckets) - and saves the water from the second rinse for the first rinse , for the first wash, the next day.  over 24 hours, a sludge settles to the bottom, which watso discards - and the remaining water is good enough for the first rinse the next time...but watso had been thinking if it was possible to reuse the same detergent again for washing.. the conclusion - most likely not - but was an interesting thought - and someone else had already thought about it
