This one might be in the bottom draw for a very long time.
I was talking to a lady in Cabarita beach a while back that apposed CSG drilling, she was telling me we could be self-sufficient using hemp oil for all our energy needs.
You may well laugh but this lovely lady and she was a good person really believed we could run a modern economy on hemp oil.
The facts as I see them, is that in the next twenty years the world will become even more hungry for energy sources, which is becoming harder and harder to find.
We are heading for a tipping point in age demographics with people like myself retiring in the next twenty plus years, you may wonder what this has to do with those apposed to unconventional forms of energy.
For me the last ten years few by, so twenty doesn't seem too far away in the scheme of things, we in Australia enjoy an enviable standard of living, even if some take it for granted.
I also don't want a country with polluted waterways or dirty air, but feel by being unwilling to see what is fast approaching we'll be in a world of pain soon enough, and be forced to make changes to our way of life that most find unpalatable.
I personally don't believe there will be a pension waiting for me when I retire, and by staying apposed to all forms of energy including renewable's, our country will become un-competitive and the benefits we enjoy today won't be pasted to future generations.
I don't think unconventional's are the only answer, I believe mixed with renewable's we can meet the challenges ahead, but the type of politic being played out in Australia today doesn't fill me with hope this can happen.
Best to all Bon Swar.
PS, looking for a job as I'm now financially ruined - Hard working carpenter willing to go anywhere in Australia.
