    You should not blame yourself for this, since there were other legitimate considerations (benefits) at hand eg refund of franking credits, and that this may yet be a positive move (medium term).

    As a non-professional investor, I also manage a large portfolio (30 stocks), and decisions surrounding entry and exit may reflect broader portfolio management (eg balance/weight, risk) and tax considerations.

    With all due respect, I have heard this phrase before. Many Mum and Dad type SMSF investors have had the luxury of a broad-based recovery in equities since the GFC. Unfortunately, given the extreme circumstances surrounding commodites, the market is now factoring in that these dividends will be sacrificed (hence the pain suffered by STO holders in Nov-Dec 2014 is now being shared by WPL holders in Jan 2015).

    Despite the energy and material sectors being down, no doubt your industrials exposure will be outperforming!
