I agree that companies in the biotech sector need to use intellectual property as Barriers to entry. Its true that the Chinese could simply copy the products, but I think they would really only be able to distribute in China and some parts of Asia. If products which were a blatant breach of IP were distributed to Western countries, I think there would be some backlash. There is the possibility that other Western companies could side step the IP, but this is the same in any industry. Hence the importance of constantly innovating to stay one step ahead of the competition.
