I actually wrote to my local MP with this very question, he passed it on to the Minister for Superannuation and I got a reply, standard form letter reply of an overview of existing regulations but a closing paragraph are they are currently reviewing the early access rules.

No specifics were given to me. Hopefully it does occur but the cynic in me expects changes that will reduce/delay our ability to get our own money.

Examples I expect to see.. Raising of Preservation age (Baby Boomer will be exempted from changes, GenX and younger won't be) and limitations on how much you can withdraw as a lump sum and mandatory Pension/Annuities paying periodic payments to you.

Hope to be proven wrong, but with changes in the past that have limited our ability to access our own money expect nothing less than more of the same from government.
