I don't delight in it at all, I pity these idiots. If you read the first sentence of the last paragraph in their post, he/she is entirely aware that they could end their plight by simply turning around and going home. Nobody else put them in this situation except themselves, and the fact they're not willing to mask up or vaccinate or experience other kinds of discomforts or inconvenience that everyone else just puts up with is truly selfish. By using the word 'succumb' you are really showing the victim mentality that governs a lot of this behaviour. They also happen to be a small portion of the trucker community, the BBC article posted below indicates that 90% of the cross-border truckers are vaccinated. So they're not special; they're stupid. The reddit post I grabbed this from is titled '
The Q Pilled Canadian Convoy has run into some difficulties.', and that's exactly what they are. They have been brainwashed into believing this garbage, and they are making others suffer by their actions. Read the reddit posts of native Ottawans just wishing these morons in their trucks weren't packing the city constantly honking their horns at all hours, threatening staff at homeless shelters so they can get free food, attacking police, dancing on the tomb of the unknown soldier, brandishing swastika flags and confederate flags, and committing other stupid acts that will basically achieve nothing except making the majority of society dislike them even more, and not want to support their cause. Another thing Canadian redditors point out is that except for the cross-border truckers, these mandate are issued at the provincial level. So there is basically no point in going to the country's capital to protest mandates of this kind, because those aren't the people that put these laws in place. It's also sad to point out that while there is a lot of homegrown stupidity amongst the ranks, a lot of it is cross-border stupidity from the US.
