?S&T Activities in Support of the Canadian Small Arms Replacement Program

Abstract Text: The Canadian Forces have initiated a series of three small arms replacement projects to either upgrade or replace their entire small arms fleet, Small Arms Modernization (SAM), Special Weapons and Ammunition (SWA) and Next Generation Small Arms (NGSA). These projects replace the previously presented large omnibus project, Small Arms Replacement Project 2 (SARP 2). They have a total combined value of over a billion Canadian dollars, and will be implemented sequentially, the last (NGSA) beginning in the 2020 time frame and focusing on assault weapons.?
