There was movement at the station
For the word had got around.....
That their 99 year leases weren't as secure as they had thought
The battle over Canberra's Catholic-owned public hospital (Calvary) has got to court this week with an injunction barring the immediate Labor-Green govt takeover despite a 99 year lease on the site.
The govt wants to make the hospital part of the public health system.
There have been protests by the Nurses Union, various religious groups and even now ordinary citizens wondering how secure their 99 year leases are if the govt can just nationalize privately held land at will.
As I understand it, the Calvary Hospital is one of the better run in the ACT, even without the benefit of the management skills of the ACT bureaucracy.
