Labor candidate for Brisbane Pat O’Neill uses dog Thumpa to call for more funding in lead-up to federal election

THE Labor candidate for the seat of Brisbane may have taken out the gong for most cringe-worthy election campaign video.
Pat O’Neill’s dog Thumpa stars in the footage that calls for an additional $5000 in funding to help garner support for his owner during the final weeks of the marathon campaign.
The 55-second video shows Thumpa using a voiceover to “talk” to the camera.
He wanders through what is presumably Mr O’Neill’s office, highlighting a map of Brisbane and the candidate’s bike, until he goes in search of the man himself.
If that isn’t enough cringe, Thumpa then asks supporters to help put him on a billboard with his owner.
“That way the people of Brisbane will know who their Labor candidate is and can vote for him to be our voice in Canberra,” he says.
