Try this
Go to My Computer (not mine, yours...LOL) and get to Hardware and see if this scanner is installed
Then try uninstalling it then reinstalling it (this should happen automatically when the Scan for New Harware dialogue shows up and see where that leads you.
You may have an OS like XP that will have all the requisite drivers or you may need to revet to your own proprietary s/ware
