Blue Horse Shoe indicated his impeccable source in Avexa had said a buyer was interested back in June 2007 but the company was seriously considering going it alone.

I expect Phase II 48 week results will likely only give a temporary lift in this market....the real shareprice driver will be the signing of a partnership agreement for ATC.

If the company achieves it's goals of getting an IND for it's antibacterial program in 2H'08 and the HIV integrase program by the end of '08 then that will icing on the cake.

We can be very grateful that Avexa is in no immediate need of raising further capital. Excluding the large caps the biotech sector in '08 has under performed a poor overall market by some margin. Link this to the credit crunch and raising money is likely to be a difficult exercise. M&A is probably on the cards particularly for some of smaller biotechs.
