Nosir, the main problem with stamp duty its stops people from moving around to where there are jobs. That's why Americans are more mobile as they don't this form of tax. It a very unfair tax on those that are forced to move for various reasons. I do see your point about speculators though. I think a broad base land tax that every property owner pays every year would be better. I would pay that tax on two properties just to get rid of stamp duty.
