The comparison with Qantas is interesting. I didn't know they were a mining company. But as you insist on comparing them, how about we look at the way their chief execs are paid? You said Mr Beament gets the equivalent of $7 million. The ABC says of Alan Joyce:
"Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce has topped the list of Australia's highest-paid chief executives for 2018, taking home $23.9 million — which is more than 275 times the full-time average wage."
Mr Joyce started out with a fully developed company, operating with a captive market. So I guess we can't complain too much about what we're paying to retain a leader who helped take a 5 cent company with no mine and brought it to what it is today. And all that within 10 years... Qantas is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year (check your $1 coins).
