The repo markets have been being bailout since Sept, there were/are concerns over $3.7 trillion in junk bonds, huge world wide growing debt/ $255 trillion, the system was (is) in a bubble, the virus triggered a fall that was always going to happen. A bubble is bubble, eventually it comes to an end as all bubbles do. The economic cycle in the US was long in the tooth, it was going to happen one way or another. If you like being invested in the only show in town irrespective of valuation that's your choice. Eventually something comes along to reset valuations to more sensible levels. This corona virus is not the first new disease to come our way and won't be the last.
Half the pigs in China, 50% of the pig population or 440 million pigs last year alone either died from African swine fever or were killed to stamp out the virus. Thankfully we treat humans that get sick.
Having unstable bubble markets fed by printed money that just create wealth inequality in society is not going to work forever and IMO doesn't provide the strongest base to combat the challenges we face as humans living together on this planet. Free and honest markets that are allowed to fail from time to time will provide much stronger bases for society, Banks that take deposits and lend money for constructive purposes in society not one big mishmash of insane gamblers hunting for endless share price appreciation in manipulated markets that have lost all risk differentiation. Something failing, its OK let's print money, did your bet go wrong? sorry about that here is some more money, oil price down hey its OK I'll print money to buy oil and send the price up, virus disrupting supply chains and businesses, relax well just print money to bailout everyone affected, but if you are a small guy please don't put your hand up we need to keep you to do all the work and pay the debts in the end.Esh
