I am mindful that when Sharesontoast shares an insight (similarly for a number of other posters) they are digging into accumulated research over several months, even years. Importantly, research may include conversations with Directors, some of which they will share openly, but some which by necessity they will keep close to their chest.

Confidence is important to keep particularly where off-the-record comments may be made. Consequently, vision-style statements can be a way of posting convictions about a company based upon substantive personal observations.

Personally, I have had a couple of conversations with the Directors of Phylogica including most recently, the extremely amiable CFO and VP Corporate Development. I am left in no doubt that the directors know where they are going and how to get there. The track record for delivery provides a great deal of confidence going forward. If Woolf says Roche are delighted with the collaboration, I am confident Roche are extremely delighted and intent upon formalizing a lucrative partnership agreement.

Some can see the trees and not the forest while others appear mesmerized by the fear of trolls hiding in the branches. Each to his own - Phylogica is by no means a risk free investment. Nonetheless it does represent a wonderful opportunity to participate in an Australian grassroots biotechnology growth story which Roche, Pfizer and AstraZeneca already appear to have recognized.
