Yes, the Danes are heavily taxed but they rank as one of the World's happiest nations. They don't have garish hundred-billionaires like Musk, Bezos & Zuckerberg, but in reality who wants them? These guys sit atop their corporate empires like Roman Emperors pissing on the plebians.
Regarding Greenland, I'm sure there are some Colonial-minded Danes who take pride in 'owning' a far-flung colony, but at what cost. The French might like to keep their Pacific colonies as a tilt to their past empire, but at least they visit there on holidays. I wouldn't think there would be too many Danes who visit Greenland. The reality is that Colonialism is a dead man walking.
The Danes can afford their welfare state because they are hard workers, while the Greenlanders can only afford their welfare state because the Danes are hard workers.
